Food Boycott

Well it's official Luke has decided to boycott food. He has been fighting off a cold for the last week or so and has totally lost his appetite. Meal time has been a battle, which usually involves him saying "no no no no no" half a dozen time and some tears or even maybe a big fit. Then I finally convince him to take a bite it is like watching an episode of "Fear Factor" where the contestants have to eat some kind of disgusting thing like worms or roaches. His face scrunches up and his eyes start to water and he gags on the food (which I think is all an act, but he is a really good at it!). He will not even eat all his favorite foods, like yogert, bananas, peanut butter sandwiches, cheese & gold fish crackers. I am sure being sick is the cause of all of this, or maybe he is just getting tired of eating the same things over and over. So if anyone has some suggestions on good snacks and little meals for a 2 year old, feel free to tell me.

Sleepy Head

Well Luke did the funniest thing last night!!! We were doing our usual get ready for bed routine. Luke was in the bath and I was cleaning up the house a little bit. Luke really loves his bath, he will sit there for the longest time and play with his boats and rubber ducks and other bath toys. You can hear him splashing and making all kinds of noises. But last night was different. He was unusually quiet. So I went in to check on him, and there he was sitting up in the bath with his eyes closed. I said his name "Luke" and he opened his eye for a moment and then they shut again. His eyes were closed and his little head kept bobbing to the side a little. I couldn't believe it, he was falling asleep in the bath tub. It was the funniest thing. I went and got Joe really fast so he could see. I wish I would have got a picture of it, but I didn't want to leave him like that for too long just in case he fell over. He must have been really tired.....poor little guy.

Big Boy Room

Before

After

Before

After

Well here are some before and after pictures of Luke's bedroom. It used to be baby Noah's Ark stuff, and now as you can see it is all about sports!! We had a lot of fun redecorating it. He really loves it!!! It was kinda sad to see all the baby stuff come down and up with the big boy stuff. But HE was definitely ready for it. We got rid of the full size bed and got a futon, and it gave his so much more room to play. Hopefully this will be a room that will he will love for years and years!!!!

Little Box Of Goodies

I was sorting through a tote that I've had in my closet. It is one of those ones that has all your special things in it, that you don't want to throw away but are not quite sure what to do with. So you just put them all together in a tote and it just sits there. Well I felt like going through it today and reminding myself of what was in there. It was pretty fun. I found lots of pictures and cards a journal that I wrote in high school and even some letters that Joe and I wrote to each other when we first got together. It was nice to remember back, even though it has only been a few years. Here is a poem I wrote and haven't read for a few years. It really gave me peace today and encouraged me, so I thought I would share it!!!
When did you last kneel, and in your heart did feel,
The closeness in your soul, that all around you was whole.
The warmth of his love, sent on wings of a dove.
Overfilling your being, and wonderful joy never fleeing.
When did you last know, how his spirit did flow.
Humbling your heart within, and freeing you from all sin.
Your eyes filling with tears, and having no more fears.
Of what your future may hold, and letting God's hand unfold,
His complete will for you, and what he wants you to do.
Turn to him for all, and then you will not fall.
Honor him in all you do, be thankful your his chosen few.
Never turn away, and from his side don't stray.
The Lord is always there, showing his loving care.
So be a shining light, and keep up the good fight.

Count to 5

Well Luke is really starting to talk good now. He used to just know the basic to get by...like baba...num nums mama and dada. But know he is really starting to get the hang of things. He like to try to copy everything that he hears. It is amazing how fast they catch on to things. One day we are sitting there with hardly any way of communicating and the next day he is counting to five all by himself.

It is really neat to see them learn. It makes you feel so proud. Even though half of the time you didn't teach them anything, and you find yourself saying "How did he learn that." That is what happen the day he learn to count to five. We were sitting in a chair together just playing and he just started counting on my fingers. He didn't quite get it all the way right, but after a few minutes of practice he had it down. He can actually count to 10 now. It is really cute. He is turning into a pretty smart little boy!!!

Kid's Say The Funniest Things

These are some really cute stories....Luke has not quite got to the point of saying things like this, but he does ask me if I am ok when I sneeze :-)

Cute things kids say about Moms

"Why God made moms"
Answers given by elementary school age children to the following questions:

-Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.
How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.
-What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

-What kind of little girl was your Mom?
1. My Mom has always been my Mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.
-What did Mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?
Why did your Mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.
-Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.
-What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work & work at home, & dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
-What does your Mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long
-What would it take to make your Mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.
If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my Mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on her back.

----THE MOMMY TEST----

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that. "Why?" my daughter asked."Because it's been laying outside, you don't know where it's been, it's dirty and probably has germs" I replied. At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, "Wow! How do you know all this stuff?" "Uh," ...I was thinking quickly, " All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mommy Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mommy."We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information."OH...I get it!" she beamed, "So if you don't pass the test you have to be the daddy.""Exactly" I replied back with a big smile on my face and joy in my heart.

"Dear Lord," the preacher began with arms extended and a rapturous look on his upturned face, "without you we are but dust..."He would have continued, but at that moment one very obedient little girl (who was listening carefully) leaned over to her mother and asked quite audibly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mommy, WHAT is butt dust?"Church was pretty much over at that point...

First Post

Hello,
Well this is my first post. So I hope I can figure everything out. We are a family of three. Myself (Beth), my husband (Joe), and our two year old son (Luke). We live in the small town of Montrose, CO. We have lived here for a little over a year now. Joe works in construction and I am a stay at home mom and part-time babysitter of a 6 month old little boy ( Landon). We enjoy spending time with friends and family from our church, snowboarding, four wheeling, camping, traveling, and just hanging out together.
