Getting ready for winter!!!

So it started snowing yesterday evening and snowed pretty much the whole night threw and this is what we woke up to this morning. It is so pretty. There is nothing like waking up to the first real snow and feeling warm and cozy in your home. I just love that feeling. Makes you want to drink some hot chocolate or make some kind of baked goods.

This is a pretty early snow for here. Even though we live in Colorado you would be surprised at how much snow we don't get in the town I live in. Last year it snowed like 3 times to where it actually stuck to the ground and it was gone within a day after that. The mountians around us get tons of snow, but we live a little valley that is protected.
Now that there is some snow here I got to thinking if I was ready for winter. We just put new tires on our truck so that is a good thing. They were getting bad and Joe has to drive snowy road a lot to and from work.

So I decided to get out Luke's winter stuff and see if any of it still fit him from last year. He hardy used it but maybe once last year so I hoped I could still get some use out of it.

His snow pants and gloves still fit him so I was happy about that. He does need a new hat and a new coat. It is so hard to buy coats for kids. I never know what size to get him. I don't want to buy him one every year so I try to buy it a little big so it will last two years. He is a pretty big boy and wears big sizes for his age. He had a coat that we got his for spring, summer nights and fall. It is from Old Navy and it is a size 4T. It fits him just right. So I am thinking about getting him a 5T for his winter coat, but I am worried it will be way to big. We'll see I just need to go and have him try some on. I was going to order it online, but probably shouldn't. Well hope everyone had a great week.

Grandpa is coming to town!!!

Well my dad (Bill) and his wife Diana are coming into town tomorrow. We are really looking forward to seeing them. The last time we saw them was in May when we took our trip to Washington. This is his first trip out here to see us since we moved here. So it will be really nice to have them in our home. My Dad used to have friends that lived here when he was my age. So he is looking forward to seeing how things have changed here in the last 30 years. We don't have much planned he will only be here for two nights. We are just going to spend some time together and go see some sights. Well hope everyone had a great weekend.

Much needed update

Ok...well sorry to everyone that has been checking my blog and has been disappointed to see that Luke is still in the bubble bath..hehe. I can't believe it has been two months now since I posted. I have been super busy. I pretty much thought it might be point-less to post, cause I figured everyone had given up on me and was not checking my blog anymore. But oh well. So for those of you who might still check it, here is a much needed update.

Well a lot has happen since the last time I posted. We backed out of our house deal, so we are not buying a house right now. It was only a week before our loan deadline and Joe got layed off his job. No job no loan approval. We didn't really lose anything in the deal, just the money for the home inspection so that was good. We had really been praying about it and felt like it was probably not the Lords will for us to get the house and he made a way for us to get out of it, without losing our ernest money. Even though Joe lost his job, which wasn't good. He was hired by another construction company only 4 days later. It was such a blessing to only miss a few days of work. The company that he is working for now is sooo much better too. His previous work envirornment was not a good one...everyone like to party, expect him. So that was a blessing to get away from that.

I am babysitting again. I started the day that Joe got layed off his job. It is amazing how the Lord works things out. He knew Joe would lose his job and we would be needed some extra money to get us by till he got work again. Babysitting is not much but at least it can buy some gas and a few groceries. So I have been babysitting everyday (during the week) for a few hours in the morning. I watch a little 5 year old boy before he goes to kindergarten. Then I watch a almost 1 year old girl a few days a week in the mornings. It has been nice...doesn't take up to much of my day since I am done by noon everyday.

So let see what else has happen.....Joe sister got married. It was a very nice ceremony. We had a freak storm come through the weekend of the wedding and we had snow the day before the wedding. But it cleared up for the ceremony and we had nice weather...very cold, but nice. It turned out to be a beautiful day. We had lots of company come in for it and it was nice to see a lot of family.

So things are slowing down a little now, which has been nice. But we are going to get busy again soon. My dad and his wife will be here to visit in like a week and then my mom and her husband are coming a week after that. It will be so nice to see them again. Am really looking forward to it.

Well hope everyone has been well. And now that I have updated everyone on everything. I will try to post more often. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!

Bubbles Bubbles Bubbles

Hey everyone!!! It has been a little while since my last post. Things have been pretty busy around here lately. Plus I have been fighting off a nasty head cold for the last two weeks and am finally getting better.
~
So this is what is going on here in our lives. Joe's brother and his wife are going to have a baby any day now. We are so excited to get to meet the new addition to the family. Then next month Joe's sister is getting married. So we have been helping a little bit with the planning? I am also helping put on the personal shower for his sister. Also we are still in the process of buying a house. We are really getting excited and can't wait till the process is done and we can get moved in.
~
So here are some recent pictures of Luke. He had his first real bubble bath. He loved it. Now he has to have bubbles every time. It is really cute.

Our Camping Trip

So here are some of the pictures from our camping trip. We had a really nice time. We got there on a Thursday night. It is about a 10 hour drive to the camp ground. We set up camp and just hung out and visited the rest of the night. Friday we hung out around camp in the morning. Joe played some volleyball while me and Luke stayed at camp and played with bubbles and cooled our feet off in his little blow up pool. In the afternoon we went to some near by waterfalls. It is really beautiful. I would have took some picture of them but you have to walk down the water fall to get a good view of them. I have done that, but that was before Luke was born. Not to safe to do that with a kid now. But the teenagers love to do it. So we just stayed at the top of the falls and waded in a water hole. It was nice and cool. After that we went back to camp had a bbq and went to the church camp meeting.
~
Saturday was just more of the same stuff....hanging out with friends and family and visiting. We did go to Jackson Hole though and have lunch and walk around the stores for a while. It is a really neat town. Saturday night there was a singing around the camp fire and lots of visiting.
~
Sunday morning was church again followed by a potluck dinner. Then 7 teenagers got baptized. Including my sister-in-law Jewely's fiance' Josh. It was really neat. Everyone was really excited.
~
That was pretty much the highlights of the trip..we spent Monday morning packing up and saying goodbye to everyone. We had such a great time and enjoy it every year..although it is nice to come home to running water and electricity!!

House Pictures

Ok, so a few weeks back I posted that we are in the process of trying to buy a house. So I am finally posting some pictures of it. I was holding off on doing this, because I thought I might jinks myself and after I post the pictures we wouldn't get the house.

It is a 2 bed 1 bath cozy little mexican style house. It is really cute. We really like it. It has a huge yard with a privacy fence all around it. It is probably a house that we will only live in for a couple of years. We want to fix it up a little and then sell it so we can afford to get a bigger house. You have to start some where though. It will make a great first home.

We are supposed to close on the house at the end of October. The lady that live in the house right now is in the process of building a new house and it won't be finished untill then. It is hard to wait that long but it also kinda nice to take our time. Plus we can start planning ahead on everything we want to do to the house.

~Summer bike rides~

Here are a few pictures of us and our bikes...getting ready to go for a ride. We just bought the bikes and Luke's bike trailer this summer. It has been a blast. Luke really enjoys it too. There are different bike trails that go all over town..so it is really convenient to ride anywhere you want. Sometimes Joe's family goes with us and we have like 7 people riding together. It is a great summer activity!

Favorite Photos Friday

Well it is Friday again...so here is my post for "favorite photos friday" Just a couple of funny pictures of Luke in his new "CARS" underwear!!
This pictures is silly...and no he didn't dodo in his underwear..they are just a little baggy.. hehe :-)
We took him to see the movie "CARS" the weekend it came out. It was his first time at a movie theater. He loved it. It was a super cute movie..even for the parents. He keeps asking me "Mama whatcha Cars" it is really cute..will have to buy it when it comes out on DVD.
He loves wearing his new underwear, and is still doing very well with the potty training. He went dodo for the first time in the potty yesterday. That was a big accomplishment for him...Yeah Luke!!! He has only had one wet accident since his second day of potty training..so he is doing very well.

~

Workout: I have still been keeping up on my workouts. Joe and I bought bikes a few weeks ago and have been riding them everywhere. We got one of those little bike carts for Luke that you pull behind your bike. We got it up the road from our house at a yard sale. So we got a great deal on it and it is almost brand new. Luke loves it. We have been going for bike rides almost every night. There are a tons of bike trails all around town. It is a very good workout. Only bad thing is we end up stopping my DQ on the way home for some ice cream. Luke won't let us pass by there with out getting him a little baby cone. Oh well. It is fun family time together!!!

~Little Baby Hunter~

Well, we had a pretty crazy weekend and a week so far. Between Father's day and helping my husband parents move into their new house. I have not had time to post.
But wanted to share this with everyone. The pictures above are of me and my friend Jessica. While we were in Washington I got to go to one of her baby showers. They knew that they were having a little boy and were naming him hunter.
They induced her labor on last friday and finally late on saturday night she started pushing. She was having a hard time and the baby wasn't coming. So they did a c-section. The baby wasn't breathing and had to be revived. They were then transported to a hospital in Seattle for further care. At first they were just worried about the babies lungs because it had a bowel movement and thought it might be in the lungs. We were pretty worried, but thought he would probably be ok.
The next day I found out that they said that there was some bleeding in the brain and swelling and they were worried about brain damage and were going to do some test. After a day or two more of waiting, the test revealed that he has severe brain damage...almost completely brain dead.
He has been on life support and today they are going to take him off support and let him go. It is so sad..and makes me cry as I write this. My friend Jessica and her husband seem to be doing good...but I know it can't be easy. It is probably an emotional roller coaster for them. They have been able to see and hold the baby alot and are going to get to hold him while he passes on.
Just remember them in your prayers today, as it is going to be a very hard day for them. And over the next few week as they go home to a house full of baby stuff with no baby.
It is hard to understand why stuff like that happens. You look at your own child and see how strong and healthy they are and you think about what it must be like to go through something like that. So so sad. I just hugged Luke for the longest time today and thanked the Lord that he allowed him to be a healthy little baby and now a little boy.
A BABY'S SECRET
I'm just a little person
And I didn't quite make it there;
I went staight to be with Jesus
And I am waiting for you here.
~
Don't you fret about me, Mommy,
I'm of all God's lambs most blest;
I'd have loved to stayed ther with you,
But our Shepherd knows what's best.
~
Many dwelling here where I live
Waited years to enter in;
Struggled through a world of sorrow
And their lives were marred with sin.
~
So sweet Mommy don't you sorrow,
Chase the gloom and wipe the tears;
I went straight to Jesus bosom
May your heartache disappear.
~
Daddy gave me something for you,
It's our secret, Mommy dear;
Pressed it tight against my forehead,
Whispered in my tiny ear.
~
I'll be waiting for you Mommy-
You and Daddy, all the rest.
I'll be with you then forever
And I'll give you Daddy's Kiss.

Bottle Breaking & Potty Training!!!

Well it has begun....We have broke Luke off the bottle and started the potty training. He is doing really good with both!! It seems like he is growing up over night.
~
I wasn't really planning to start any of it..but it just kinda happen. Which was really nice. First it was the bottle. Well one day we were out of milk and I couldn't go get any, so I thought ok we will just see what happens. It was time for Luke's nap and I put him down and told him that the milk and the baba was all gone. He was not very happy about it. He kept getting up and getting up. After about 5 or 6 times and when I opened the fridge and showed him there was no milk he finally realized he was too tired to care and went to sleep. It really wasn't that bad compared to our previous experiences of trying to take it away...which involved crying and screaming and kicking and never settling down. And each time it has gotten easier. At first he would ask for the bottle and I would say "no more bottles" and then he would toss and turn for a little while and go to sleep. But now he is not even asking for it.
~
As for the potty training, that is still a work in progress. We got him a potty chair months ago and when we first got it he was very interested in it. He would sit on it and everything but would never go, and then eventually he wanted nothing to do with it. So I decided I would just put it away some where in the closet and bring it back out when he seemed interested in it again. So one day he kept saying " Where Luke potty go?" Then he saw a commercial on TV for Pull Ups and thought it was pretty cool. So I showed him his big boy underwear and asked him if he wanted to wear them. And to my surprise he did. So we put them on him and then took him to the potty after a little while. He sat down and was trying to go but couldn't quite figure it out. So I turned the water on in the sink hoping that would give him the urge to go, and it did. So now his is using the potty when we are at home to go pee pee, but hasn't done the doo yet. But it is a great start, and it all started happening with the bottle and the potty on the same day. So that's why I said it seems like he grew up over night. It is really neat, but also sorta sad. He is definitely not a baby anymore.
Workout: Took Luke for a 30 min walk this morning.

    On The Road Again!!!

Well we are so excited. We get to take a trip!!!! We love to travel and have not had the chance to do it much lately. We are leaving sometime this weekend and heading to Washington State!!!! That is where we used to live a few years ago. We haven't been back there in a long time. We have quite a bit of friends and family out there.
    ~
We are going to be gone for about 2 weeks. It is going to be so nice to get to spend time with eveyone. While we are down there Joe is going to paint my dad house. So that will be nice to make some money while we are out there. It is really the only way we could even make the trip at all. So I am very thankful for it.
    ~
Well just wanted to let everyone know that I will be gone for awhile so I won't have any new post for a few weeks!!! But when I get back I am sure I will have plenty to post about and lots of picture. Talk to everyone when we get back!!!!
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
Today's workout: Well today I went for a very long walk. I need to go to the bank and the post office but I didn't have a car. We only have one car and Joe took it to work today. He ususally carpools so I am not car-less all day long. So anyway I just decided I would walk down town. It was like 9 blocks down and 5 blocks over. It was a nice walk...very warm out today!!!

TODAY: DID 10 PUSH-UPS (DOESN'T SOUND LIKE A LOT...BUT THEY ARE HARD...HOPEFULLY I CAN WORK UP TO MORE) SOME SIT-UPS AND STRETCHES..AND THEN WENT FOR A WALK!!!

    Time For A Nap

It is so funny some of the positions that kids and babies can sleep in. Here are a few pictures of Luke sleeping!!
Now a days this happens when he has missed his nap, and a few hours later he just crashes in the first place his head lands. This one doesn't look very comfortable...talk about a stiff neck. I layed him down on the sofa after I took the picture.
He used to do this a lot and still does sometimes. One time he fell asleep with food still in his mouth and when he woke up like an hour later he continued chewing it...yuck (It was a piece of a hamburger)
I like this one cause you can tell he feel asleep right in the middle of playing with the toys....see how his hand is still holding the toy!!!

Here he is with his leg sticking out of the crib. I woke up one morning and found him this way. I had to get a picture. He is just about to wake up, but I got the picture before he moved to much.

    Favorite & Funny Photo Friday

    Favorite Photo
Here is a picture of Luke and I when he was like only 2 weeks old. I still remember that moment like it was yesterday. He layed on my chest and slept for like two hours. He was so tiny and sweet. It was just me and him in the house. (Joe took the picture when he got home) I just sat there holding him and listening to him breath and it something I will always remember. I can still feel him laying on me.

Funny PhotoHere is Luke at like 3 or 4 months old. He found out how to put his finger up his nose during a routine diaper change and I snapped a quick photo. So funny!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

    Rescue Pack

Well here is Luke with his "Go Diego Go" Rescue Pack. He really like it!!! It is so hard to find anything Diego at the stores. All you see is "Dora The Explorer" Which he really like her too, but Joe won't let me buy very much Dora stuff since it is "girlie" I bought a Dora DVD, but it was the one with Diego on it too. This past weekend we went to the mall and were looking for sandals for Luke and he spotted some Dora shoes and wanted them really bad. They were soooo cute, they had lights on them. I put them on Luke and showed it to Joe as a joke. It was pretty funny. I looked for Diego ones but couldn't find any. Which brings me back to my point. I wonder when they are going to start coming out with more Diego stuff. We got this Rescue Pack off of eBay. A women bought just regular backpacks and painted the faces on them and sold them on eBay. She did a really good job.
Luke really loves it. He looks like such a big boy in these pictures. Looks like he could be heading to school.
