Oh...that how a pen works!!!

Well Luke got a hold a pen and wrote on the side of his face. Luckily I found him with it before he marked on anything else.
He didn't even know that he marked all over his cheek. So I showed him in the mirror.
The mirror pictures didn't come out so good cause of the flash. But at least you can see the look on his face. Like, "how did that get there."
He thought it was pretty interesting!!!

Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations (aka Mom)

(I got this in an email today and thought it was pretty cute....enjoy)
~
A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk's office was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation. She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself. "What I mean is," explained the recorder, "do you have a job or are you just a...?" "Of course I have a job," snapped the woman. "I'm a Mom." "We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation, 'housewife' covers it," said the recorder emphatically.
~
~
I forgot all about her story until one day..I found myself in the same situation, this time at our own Town Hall. The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised, efficient and possessed of a high sounding title like, "Official Interrogator" or "Town Registrar." "What is your occupation?" she probed. What made me say it? I do not know. The words simply popped out. "I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations. "The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and looked up as though she had not heard right. I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words. Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire."Might I ask," said the clerk with new interest, "just what you do in your field? "Cooly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply, "I have a continuing program of research, (what mother doesn't) in the laboratory and in the field, (normally I would have said indoors and out.) I'm working for my Masters, (the whole darned family) and already have four credits (all daughters). Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities, (any mother care to disagree?) and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it). But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money.
~
~
"There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she completed the form, stood up and personally ushered me to the door. As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career, I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3. Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model, (a 6 month old baby) in the child development program, testing out a new vocal pattern. I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy! And I had gone on the official records as someone more distinguished and indispensable to mankind than "just another Mom."Motherhood!

~
What a glorious career! Especially when there's a title on the door. Does this make grandmothers "Senior Research associates in the field of Child Development and Human Relations" and great grandmothers Executive Senior Research Associates"? I think so!!! I also think it makes Aunts "Associate Research Assistants.

I Was Tagged!!!

Well I was tagged by Trina, so I am passing it on!!! Have fun!!!

Here are the rules:

Tag 4 people. It was 6, but I am only doing 4. Make your own choice however. List some Weird Facts about yourself, the weirder the better....lol .Leave a link of the blogs that you tagged so others can find them easily.

Here are the four blogs I tagged, so go read their WEIRD facts.

KristieSue

Drywall Mom

Heidi

Ladybug Hill

Ok, so here are my weird facts!!

(let see how many I can come up with)

1. I love to drink my coffee in the morning, but I hate making it. It is so nice when I come in the kitchen in the morning and see that Joe has already made it and all I have to do is get myself a cup.

2. I still like to watch re-runs of "Saved by the Bell" When Luke was a baby he would always wake up at around the same time early in the morning to nurse and I would turn on the tube and watch it.

3. I wear padded shorts (butt pads) when I go snowboarding!!! I learned my lesson the first day I went and now I won't go without them. :-)

4. I am great talking to people one on one, but sometimes get uncomfortable and shy in big groups. I usually just end up sitting there not saying a word.

5. (ok I am getting some ideas from Trina, cause I am running out of things) Trina said she has only bought one thing on ebay...Well I am on the other end of the spectrum. Last Christmas I bought almost ALL our presents on Ebay. But if it was clothing it had to be "New with tags"

6. Sometimes I think I like to watch cartoons more than Luke does!!!! I really like Nick Jr. and the Disney channel.

7. Joe and I love Starbucks and go there so much that we joke around and say that we probably pay there electricity bill every month.

8. I love and am so thankful for the time I get to spend with Luke each day. I love to watch him learn and grow right before my eyes. It is truely amazing and everytime he does something new I am just blown away with how big and smart he is getting. (ok so this one is not weird, but it is a fact about me)

Well I am sure there are more weird facts about me...I just can't think of them right now. Maybe it is just to early in the morning.

Shower Power

Awwww. There is nothing like a nice warm shower. A time to relax and get refreshed. I used to love my morning shower. I would get in there, take as long as I wanted and really enjoy it. I still love it, but don't get to enjoy it as much since Luke was born.

When Luke was a baby I would wait until he took his morning nap, then I would take a quick shower. Very quick, just long enough to jump in there and wash my hair and body and be out in a flash. All the while listening for the sound of a faint cry from the other room.

Then when Luke was a little older I would put him in his swing while I took a shower. I knew that he would sit there for awhile before either falling asleep or crying. It was a small window of opportunity. I would also put him in his highchair in the bathroom with me with toys on the tray to play with. This worked pretty well I could keep a close eye on him and not worry about what he was doing. Only problem was he would one by one throw every toy on the floor and then start crying.

Now that Luke is older I put on an episode of Dora the Explorer, or Go Diego Go, and hope that it will keep him entertained long enough for me to take a shower. But I am still constantly worried about what he is doing. And of course I think about the worst possible things, like trying to open the front door, or playing under the sink. Sometimes the mind wonders. I usually end up yelling for him to come in the bathroom just so I can see if he is ok. I did that the other day and he come in there with a bottle of Windex. Not a good sign, I knew he was into something.

I look forward to Saturday and Sunday morning when Joe is home. It is comforting to know that Joe is watching Luke and I don't have to worry. I can enjoy my shower and actually take a little longer one too. Although it is not good when I hear Joe yelling and I can't tell if he is yelling at Luke or just playing with him or yelling cause something bad happen. Then I hear Luke crying and don't know if it is because he is in trouble or if he is hurt. This kinda puts a wrench in my only time to relax in the shower. I get out and find that Luke got ahold of Joe's coffee and spilled it all over the carpet. Opps!!!

It is funny how some of the simple things change after you have a kid. Like taking a shower. It is definitely not what it used to be. It is not a bad thing though, it is just different. Not to mention how often I actually get to shave my legs.

(well this is my third time writing this cause every time I go to publish it the page isn't working and it deletes every thing I wrote. How frustrating!!!)

My Funny Photos Friday

Well it is Friday!!! Every Friday comes along and I intend to do a favorite photo Friday like MarylandMommy does and I always forget. Well today I remembered, well sorta I checked out her blog this morning and then I remembered!!
So here are a few funny pictures of Luke!!

One afternoon last week, Luke was playing in his bedroom. He got really quiet so I went to check on him and this is what I found!

5 min. later....I had put some pillows down in preparation for this. Didn't think he would last too long on the bed, since he rolls around a lot.

1 min. later.....it was cute, him sleeping on the pillows on the floor, but decided I better put him back in his bed so he could have a good nap.

Well just thought these pictures where cute and funny...they kinda tell the story themselves!! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Get all your ducks in a row!! (Literally)

Well I think Luke is on his way to becoming a perfectionist.
I have noticed a pattern with him. He is very meticulous. He like to put things in straight lines, and he notices anything and everything that is out of place.
He likes to be clean. He doesn't like it if he spills food on his shirt. He gets upset and doesn't want to eat any more. When he turned 1 we gave him a big piece of cake and let him go at it. He picked it up with his hand and ate a little. They when it got all over his hands he just started crying and trying to wipe his hands off.

We will be driving down the road and if there is a car with a dent in it he will say "Oh no broked it" It is really funny!! Another one of his pet peeves as it would seem is when something gets dirty...whether it's my shirt or his shirt or the floor or anything he will say "Oh no mess"
He is a very observant boy!!! It is so interesting to watch. I wonder if it will continue when he gets older. Now don't get me wrong he does have his moments when he like to tears things up and make a mess. It is usually right after he gets done putting them all in a straight line.

Mud Mud & More Mud

This is what my husband brings home to me after a long day of riding 4 wheelers in the mountians!!

(I had to wash everything off in the tub before putting it in the washer)

Joe and a couple of friends decided to go riding over the weekend. They went way up in the mountains some where. It is not a good idea to go riding in Colorado when it is raining or has rained in the last few days, cause the dirt turns to clay more so then mud, and it sticks to everything. So of course Joe gets our 4 wheeler stuck and has to dig it out. They other guys didn't get theirs stuck cause they have 4 wheel drive. Ours is a Yamaha Blaster and is just 2 wheel drive. It does really great on dry land....but not in the mud. So he gets it out and rides some more, and he is not only muddy from getting the 4 wheeler out but also just from all the mud that is kicking up from the tires. Well then they are on there way home and the guy driving decides to drive really fast and goes off into the ditch and gets his big truck stuck with the trailer and all the 4 wheelers on back. So they have to dig in the mud again to get out of the ditch. It was pretty bad. So Joe was literally covered from head to toe with mud. The pictures don't really do it justice. There was a layer of mud covering almost every surface of his clothes, boots, helmet, goggles and gloves. It was not very fun to clean up!!!!
